Does Your Body Need a Pressure Washing?
Pressure washing makes the old look almost brand new. My husband and I decided to pressure wash our deck today. We bought our house exactly four years ago and the deck has gone from looking perfect to old stain chipping off and a build up of green slime!
It seems like it happened quickly after we moved in and we realized the paint/stain was just a quick fix to cover up an aging deck.
This got me thinking about my body. I turned fifty almost four years ago, just a few months after we moved into our new home. Ironically, it seems like I quickly added a few pounds , lost some good muscle and acquired some extra aches and pains. Like my deck, it felt like my body had changed overnight. My body could definitely use a pressure washing!
The fifties may be fabulous in many ways, but the body definitely starts to change more rapidly!
So today, as we sprayed our deck with powerful streams of water, it was a joy to see the grime flow in little ripples down to the edges of the wood and disappear. Dirt and debris vanished. If you have nver pressure washed anything, you have been missing out on some messy fun!
Don’t get me wrong, our deck doesn’t look brand new.
Half the stain is gone and we will need to throw some new stain on it. Hopefully we’ll get a few more years out of it before we have to start replacing boards. But, it looks sooo much better than it did!
As our bodies get older, we know we can’t pressure wash them back to our 20 year old self. However, the idea of spraying off several pounds and letting the muscles show up again seems like a pretty nice idea. There are also a few boards that need to be hammered back into place on my deck. Maybe someone could hammer my back into place too?
Our bodies might need a pressure washing
If we could shed some pounds and build some muscle, we would be stronger and healthier.
Yet . . .
I don’t know about you, but it is REALLY difficult, and yes, painful for me to stick with any plan that would help me achieve these goals. Long-term commitment, except for my marriage, is something I really struggle with. I love thing to be changing often and I get bored with routines. Can you relate?
Then I think about the pressure washing today and how great my deck looks. I also start fast forwarding to my granddaughter’s next visit in eight weeks (yes I am counting the days!). I will want to carry her everywhere she will let me. She is almost two. Yes, I can carry her, but it would be nice to be stronger and get rid of some neck and lower back pain. And yes, I am hoping there will be many more grandbabies to carry!!!!
So, I Did a Thing Tonight
I signed up for a call with a fitness coach tomorrow. I’ve been putting this off, procrastinating and telling myself I will get started on making a change soon. But then another year passes. Well, I decided today is the day. It’s time to start pressure washing. I’ll keep you posted! Praying for God to help me start this journey of doing some repair work on the temple He has given me to take care of.
And by the way, I do like to drink my greens and stretch my body every day, especially my lower back. Here is a video with a few of my favorites that really help. Do them 2-3 time s a day.
Let me know how you are taking care of your temple. Are you needing some pressure washing like me?
You are precious in His sight,
