Gratitude for Every Day in November
Gratitude for 30 Days. Let’s Go!
These 30 Bible verses could be on repeat throughout the year. Simple reminders of God’s goodness and promises. So let your heart get a little lighter as you head into November. Yes, the world is very complicated right now. Absolutely, it is easy to feel fear about what’s ahead. And yes, our lives are far from perfect. But as always, God is still on the throne and we are blessed beyond measure to be called children of God. Let this Thanksgiving season be a continual toast to God.
Day 1
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1
This seemed like the perfect verse to begin with. I find it easy to forget sometimes that God’s love is never-ending, despite all my mistakes. We are imperfect, but his love isn’t.
Day 2
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2
Prayer and a thankful heart go hand in hand. If you are in a season of struggling to find gratitude, make prayer a priority. I know, sometimes that last thing you want to do is pray when you feel overwhelmed, sad or angry. God can seem far away. Pray anyway! Open your heart and allow yourself to give thanks.
Day 3
“But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24
Fear and thankfulness might not seem like the perfect pairing, but isaiah provides us with incredible wisdom. We should have a healthy fear of the Lord, his power and greatness. That acknowledgement of his greatness can lead us to more gratitude as we consider his love and compassion for each of us. We are each such a small piece of his grand creation. Just to be a part of it all can bring about thankfulness.
Day 4
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
The peace that Christ offers is no small thing. And that we can find this peace, even as we read headlines about the atrocities in Israel right now. Our fallen world is not a peaceful place. Praise God that this world is not our home.
Day 5
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise — the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” Hebrews 13:15
This is one of those verses that I think I should take more literally. It should be a sacrifice for us to make more room for God in our day-to-day activities, praising him for everything that happens in our daily lives. It’s an ongoing conversation with the Father that never ends.
Day 6
“Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20
Even more confirmation that we should be continually praising God and thanking him for everything.
Day 7
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Is is hard for you to praise God in “all circumstances”? It’s hard for most of us. I think it goes back to being in a rhythm of showing gratitude to God through the day. When we are in the habit of being grateful, it’s much easier to find authentic gratitude when we go through really hard times. I’ve written more on making gratitude a habit if you want more encouragement.
Day 8
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
Declare this EVERY MORNING!
Day 9
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
This verse reminds me of a song we sang in youth group when I was in my teens. It was called “The Steadfast Love of the Lord.” It included this verse in the lyrics. God’s mercies never end. Every day is a clean slate where we can start over, growing our faith and getting stronger every day. Continue to remember how great God’s faithfulness is, and thank him for it.

Day 10
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4
Counting it all joy is when gratitude really shows up. Recall a time when you were facing a huge trial in your life. Were you able to find joy in the circumstance? If you did, I know you can recognize the thankful heart that came with that joy. Keep looking for the joy!
Day 11
“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” 2 Corinthians 2:14
I love the poetry of this verse, along with everything it offers. We can thank God leading us to those who need to hear his word, and thank him even more when someone hears that Word and decides to follow Jesus. Here’s a translation from The Message, including verse 15. It might make it come to life even more for you.
Thank God! In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.
2 Corinthians 2:14-15
Day 12
“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:4-5
This verse makes me think of many things our culture is rejecting. What if everyone received the gender they were given at birth with thanksgiving. I’m sure you can think of many examples of this rejection of God’s goodness. Take time to praise him for everything he created.
Day 13
“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:12-13
Truly this is a recipe for finding more happiness and joy.
Day 14
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:2-5
About a year ago I decided to memorize this chapter in Psalms. It’s hard to put into words what a blessing that has been. These words can come to mind quickly and I know that God has given us so many blessings we don’t deserve. Don’t you just love that God “satisfies us with good”!
Day 15
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns to God, and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts.” Colossians 3:16
Memorize scriptures and learn from them. Listen to a good Christian playlist and sing out loud! Feel free to follow my playlist on Spotify. Sing with a thankful heart.
Day 16
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I Thessalonians 5:18
Are you starting to see a theme? God wants us to find gratitude in all circumstances. It can be difficult and humbling to praise God when it’s hard to do so. But did you catch the last of this verse. It is his will. Just as a child will grow when they submit to their parents, we will do the same as we show gratitude during difficult times.
Day 17
“I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30
Let your time of worship take on more meaning as you think about this verse next Sunday morning.
Day 18
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.” Psalm 95:1-3
This is an old song by Jamie Grace, but I still love it! It’s the perfect song for this verse. Beautiful Day
Day 19
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” Psalm 28:7
Let the arrows fly. God’s ready for it. Praise God as you put your trust in him.
Day 20
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” Psalm 34:8
Fall is the perfect time to see that the Lord is good. We took a trip to Minnesota last week to visit family. I love living in Florida but is was so nice to see the fall colors. We drove up to Lake Superior one day. It’s hard to not praise God when you witness his beauty so clearly.
Day 21
“Rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:7
This is what this verse means to me. You know God’s word, you have built your life around it, and you are walking in faith because you were taught all these things. Now go and enjoy all the blessings of this life. And be thankful. I would love to hear your comments and see how you apply this verse to a life of gratitude.
Day 22
“You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.” Psalm 4:7
I love this! Be joyful and thankful.
Day 23
“Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 106:1
Another reminder to praise the Lord and give thanks for his undivided, never-ending love.
Day 24
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
This might seem like an unusual “Gratitude” verse, but I find great comfort in it. There’s an expectation from Jesus that we will work hard at everything we do, and we will be tired. This encourages us to be thankful that we can find rest in him.
Day 25
“For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:15-16
More grace. More saved. More praise!
Day 26
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6-7
Another reminder that prayer and thankfulness lead to peace in our hearts.
Day 27
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:11
I love this circle of meaning. We are thankful and obedient to God. He blesses us. We are then generous to others. Then they are thankful to God.
Day 28
“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” Psalm 95:2
Perhaps this verse will encourage us to sing a little louder with grateful hearts.
Day 29
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29
Our earthly world may be falling apart, but God’s kingdom will never be shaken! Let this reminder bring you comfort. But even more, continue to be thankful for this good news, remembering to never bring God down to our level. Make him your only God and worship him accordingly.
Day 30
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
May the Lord bless you in unexpected ways this coming season.
